A crew of eight people was required for this complicated pour, here we were casting a reproduction gate for the Centennial Park Reservoir.
It required pouring from four ladles simultaneously to fill the large complicated mould. Note the heavy weights placed on top of the mould to prevent the mould separating under hydrostatic pressure from the molten metal inside.
The pour was three times larger than any previous using the maximum capacity of two furnaces. This project won Wrought Artworks a commendation in the Energy Australia National Trust Heritage Awards.
A documentary entitled 'Baking a Gate' recording the process, by Julia Boros was screened on the ABC.
